It has always been my conviction that it is not what you know, but knowing where to find it.

About JuneSite

(personal stuff)

June Marlowe??

JuneSite is dedicated to the memory of June Marlowe, the actress who has won so many hearts of so many children over so many years playing the teacher "Miss Crabtree" in the Our Gang films of the early 1930's. "Miss Crabtree" was my first boyhood crush.  They say true love never dies ... I guess that goes for puppy love too!

JuneSite is a "family friendly" place to visit, so feel free to peek in anywhere!  And, until the definitive book on June has been written, this simple web site may well serve it's purpose as a repository of information about June, an actress who's film career was far more prolific than the seven little comedies she made for Hal Roach.

Information, photos, articles, asides, comments, and just plain JuneStuff is welcomed and encouraged as JuneSite is as much an ongoing strictly-for-the-love-of-it research project of information about June Marlowe as it is anything else.  I ask that you honor the spirit of this web site and not take anything for use in your web site -- many of the items contained on this site are on loan from private collectors and family members and are used here with their permission.

If you'd like, write to me at (dspears@dspears.com).

JuneSite is a collaborative effort. It was nicknamed "JuneSite" early on to identify a project we, separately but with the same purpose, were working on. There would be no June Marlowe web site without the contributions of each.

Steve Ramsey is responsible for the original html codes and design that gives this web site it's "look." I am deeply indebted to Steve for making this site possible.

Scott Johnson researched June's life and published a 3-part article about her in Classic Images Magazine more than 15 years ago. His article has been expanded and updated specifically for JuneSite. If you now know a little more about June than you did before, thank Scott.
In addition, I'd like to also thank Scott for his continuing help and support. Scott is June's A-#1 fan, bar none.

Chris Seguin started it all by sending me a little photo of a very young June that sparked the idea of a web site (it can be viewed on the Wampas Baby Stars page at the Gallery Annex). His thoughtfulness is the reason for the reason.

Special thanks are in order for the following people who took time from their very busy schedules to make important contributions to JuneSite.

Annette D'Agostino
Cole Johnson
Bruce Long
Glenn Moeckelmann
Bram Reinhoudt

Thanks also to - Gary Caires, Gene Vazzana, Jordan R Young, Claire at Eddie Brandt's, Paula at Movie Star News, Gayla at Film Favorites, Jim Shepard at Collector's Book Store, and everyone at Cinema Collectors (excellent catalogs and service).

Particular thanks to Marc R. Williams, Dan Condon, Jim Resseque, and Ted Boysen for sharing recently acquired photos and memorabilia of June and her career. Your generosity keeps Junesite an active forum.

And, saving the best for last, heartfelt thanks to those members of June's family who have shared experiences, remembrances, and materials to this site. I am eternally grateful. Gisela was a very special person indeed.

A Lesson In Arithmetic

Miss Crabtree: "Now class, if a hen laid an egg here, and I laid two here..."

Student: "I think you couldn't do it."

" When I die and they lay me to rest,
Gonna go to the place that's the best."
Lyrics to "Spirit In The Sky"
