Pardon Us was Laurel and Hardy's first "feature Length" film (it clocked in just under one hour).  June's part in the project was bigger than what you see in the final U.S. release print.  The story has to do with Stan and Ollie attempting to sell bootleg liquor and ending up in the slammer for it.  At the end of the film they spoil a prison riot and are released.  At least one version of the film, the Spanish one, had the film end a little differently.

One of a couple of posters for the film which supposedly feature June's character.

And another with June's character featured.
June's part was that of the Warden's daughter.  In the finished print she is featured during the "stalled car" sequence, and the character has no real interaction except to ask the boys for help and to discover that the problem with the car is that it was out of gas.

A number of foreign versions were made once the U.S. version was completed.  June was kept on for at least two (and probably all) of them.  She was in Hinter Schloss und Riegel, the German Version.  She was also in De Bote En Bote, the Spanish version.  The other versions were the French Sous Les Verrous and the Italian Muraglie.

As mentioned, the Spanish version has a much different ending than the U.S. version.  A prison riot breaks out, as in the U.S. version, but the inmates also set fire to the Warden's house.  His daughter is trapped in the burning house, and to add to her dilemma, she is menaced by Walter Long, the villain of the piece.  It is up to Stan and Ollie to rescue her.

This fire scene was actually shot for the U.S. version but never used.  In De Bote En Bote you can see June yelling "Help! Fire!" but the words are coming out Spanish, compliments of Linda Laredo's dubbing of June's voice, at least according to one private collector.

In any event, seeing the fire scene intact in De Bote En Bote only makes one want to see the "lost" German, French, and Italian versions all the more!

From the Spanish version.
The Warden's daughter is rescued by the boys.

From the German version.
Stan Laurel, June, Lucien Prival (as the Warden), and Oliver Hardy.

In June's next film she would return to the two reel format and reprise her "Miss Crabtree" role.  In it she would star opposite another Hal Roach mainstay, comedian Billy Gilbert.
