One thing is clear with regards to the films June and Rin-Tin-Tin appeared in together: Warner Brothers publicized the films quite heavily prior to each release (this film was no exception). Newspaper advertising kits, posters, lobby cards, and promotional photographs flooded the major (and minor) markets where the film would be presented. While June would undoubtedly be playing the familiar female-in-danger role in these films, they did give her the opportunity to play in what must have been her favorite type of film, the "outdoor" adventure.
| The photo at left is a fair sample of the kind of publicity for the film. The caption reads: "SNOW ARTISTS. June Marlowe and Rin-Tin-Tin, famous Warner Brothers stars, admiring their snow statue of a Northwest Mounted Policeman while making TRACKED IN THE SNOW COUNTRY in which they are co-stars." |
Some film notes:
:: The film had working titles "Tracked In The North" and ""Tracked In The Snow."
:: Some publicity catch phrases used for this film were "Rin-Tin-Tin's deadly scent was the heritage of a thousand forefathers!" "He'll claw his way into your heart!" and "You'll quiver with excitement and tingle with glee!"
:: The movie took place in the Northwest Territories, but was filmed in Truckee, California.
:: Scott Johnson relates the following: While driving a dog team, June discovered that she couldn't manage them unless she imitated their trainer and swore at them! She handled the task "to the best of her ability."

Photograph is from the collection of Don Spears.
